ONDA, a study in oceanic form
Moving beyond the shoreline and into the microscopic, drawing inspiration from the hidden geometries of ocean life. Created in collaboration with IPMA (Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere), Onda is the result of a close dialogue between science and design.
While researching at IPMA, Paula Vieira immersed herself in the cellular structures of marine organisms, translating their delicate, often symmetrical forms into tactile objects of adornment. Each piece echoes the intricacies found in nature’s smallest architectures: spirals, chambers, filaments, and spores, reimagined in precious metal.
Onda honours the unseen world beneath the surface, and invites us to wear a fragment of its wonder.

What are PVJ pieces made from?
Each piece is made of sterling silver, with a 24K gold-plated finish available on select styles. Materials and finish options are listed on each page.
Is your sterling silver certified?
Yes. Our sterling silver is assayed and hallmarked by the Contrastaria, Portugal's official assay office, run by INCM (Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda). Their mark is struck next to our own maker's mark. It is an independent guarantee from the State that the metal is 925 sterling silver, rather than simply our word for it. Hallmarking applies by law to silver pieces over 2 grams, so our smallest earrings carry the maker's mark alone.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Orders ship from our Atelier in Lisbon within 1 to 6 business days. Pickup from the Atelier and Portugal mainland orders over 120 EUR ship free; shipping elsewhere in the EU, Europe, the US and Canada is calculated at checkout.
Can I return or exchange my order?
Yes, standard orders can be returned or exchanged within 14 days of delivery, unworn and in original packaging. Custom sizes and bespoke pieces are final sale. Please email info@paulavieirajewellery.com to start a return.
How do I take care of my jewellery?
Handle it gently, remove it before bathing, sleeping or washing your hands, and keep it away from perfume and lotion. Store your pieces individually in a soft pouch and polish with a dry cloth to restore shine.
